The clubs with the best reputations are in the table below, the other's are listed alphabetically. I will put up information about where to contact people if you want to meet others playing jazz or want gigs, but no promises on anything really good, I'm having enough trouble finding my own band to play here in London. I did find a guitar teacher, Ben, playing in Leicster sqaure. He was really really good, into Tuck and Patti and Hendrix, and just my style says Katey.
The Soho Jazz and Heritage Festival and London Jazz festival have just passed, a highlight was Tuck & Patti live at the Jazz Cafe on 12th of November.

Additional Comments:
The Archduke I like this place, good food, good atmosphere, and it's free to get in. They normally have duos playing as the stage isn't very big, but the music is no less entertaining.
Ronnie Scotts The oldest and most famous place in London. It has a good atmosphere and great music, be sure you book though. One of their they're regular bands is the John Chitchinson Quartet, they were a very good modern Jazz band. Ronnie Scotts also get many names from overseas coming through, although quite a few clubs do during the Jazz Festivals. Entrance Fee: Members Monday - Thursday £5, Friday & Saturday £9. Non-Members Monday - Thursday £15, Friday & Saturday £20. Students Monday - Thursday £9. MU Members Monday - Saturday £9.
Pizza Express The Pizza express on Dean street is the only pizza express that offers a jazz room. Entrance is £20 on Fridays, it's probably cheap during the week. The restaurant is quite nice, mainly pizza though. I didn't actually go down into the club, but I've heard they have good people playing.
Jazz Cafe Entrance normally is similar to the 606, although I went to see Tuck & Patti so tickets were more expensive. Okay atmosphere as a club/bar, mainly standing, although they get pretty good people coming in. The restaurant looked less run down than the inside of the club, and looked like a better place to be if you wanted to afford food, which judging my drink prices could be quite high. It's in Camden, very near the tube station.
From Jazz Clubs London:
Bulls Head South of the river. One of the longest established jazz pubs in London. Name bands and faces.
Jazz Live at the Crypt Contact: Russell Occomore. Jazz Live is host to some of the best live jazz events in the capital. Top bands appear at the weekly Friday night sessions. All jazz tastes are catered for, in the friendliest jazz club in town. Jazz Live opens at 8pm, it has a fine restaurant were award wining food costs as little as £6 for a three course meal. Bar prices are even cheaper. Jazz Live closes at around 2am. Admission £5/£3. First set 9.30. Tube to Oval (Northern Line) many buses to Camberwell Green. Look for the floodlit church!
Pizza Express Contact: Peter Wallis. Good atmosphere good food. Various groups and names
606 Club Good jazz. Good food. Both in their old location and the new, one of the best venues in London. Two Jazz groups a night Monday through Wednesday, 8:00 pm - 1.00 am. Thursdays we have one band playing from 9:30 pm -1:30am, Fridays and Saturdays 10:00pm - 2.00 am. The Club has a policy of booking local British based musicians, and as such provides a platform for some of the finest British musicians, as well as encouraging a considerable number of younger players. The Club employs more than ten different bands a week, making it one of the largest club promoters of Jazz in Europe. There is no entry fee, instead the musicians are funded from a Music Charge which is added to the bill at the end of the night, these charges are currently £5.00/head Sunday - Thursday, £6.00/head Friday and Saturday.
