iPhoto -> WordPress

Been wondering for a while if I should write an plugin to iPhoto that uploads directly to wordpress. There’s been WordPress Export for a while, but it wasn’t free, doesn’t work with the new WordPress gallery feature and doesn’t work with the latest iPhoto.

I did find though with the new Flash uploaded built into WordPress you can now browse your iPhoto library to upload files. Its not ideal, as you might upload large version of files, but its better than nothing, and in the view of doing less and not having to program every good idea I come up with it would have to do:

  1. I think this would be a fab idea. I have a facebook plugin to iphoto and it works a dream. Something for WordPress would be great, where one can just link iphoto and wordpress, such that iphoto is aware of my galleries, and i can choose whether to add new photos to an existing gallery or create a new one, add captions, and choose the size of the thumbnails and main pics that are uploaded. Click go and that’s it. No messin around on wordpress.

    If you are capable of creating such an app to work with iphoto 8 and 9, then it sure would be popular as there’s nothing around at all to fill this gap.

    thanks, let me know how you get on with it if you decide to do it.

  2. Hi, still no progress?
    I just tried to find something for my wife – she uploads RAW 10meg files to WP returning Fatal Error…
    iPhoto is a very limited software but facebook and twitter publishing links being present, couldn’t anybody think of a WordPress export workflow too?
    I couldn’t:)
    Thanks for any lead.

  3. This is exactly what I was looking for, hoping one existed already. It’s not very useful browsing the iphoto library if you want to upload an album you put together, or photos you’ve modified in iphoto.

  4. I have been searching for this app! Would pay for it too – if you ever decide to write it please let me know!
